Ukraine: Europe or Eurasia?

As we know, the scouts and guides of Ukraine belong to the World Organization of Scouting Movement, which is divided administratively into six regions - African, Arabian, Asian-Pacific, Eurasian, European, Interamerican.

The National Organization of Scouts of Ukraine is a member of the Eurasian region, which was created after the breakup of the Soviet Union.

It is interesting, though, that the Association of Ukrainian Guides is a member of the European region of their analogous organization - World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.

In light of recent events – the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, as well as Ukraine's European choice – the relevant question is to which region of the scouting movement should Ukraine belong. According to WOSM Constitution, a country-participant in WOSM may belong to one of the regions or not belong to any region at all.

Based on these considerations, we are conducting a survey of the visitors to our portal about Ukraine's future participation in WOSM. The survey does not pretend to be representative of the entire scouting community, and has been created purely for informational reasons. The voting will be open until the end of the Ukraine-EU Summit in Vilnius, which is November 29th, 2013.
